Abstract: The objective of this work is to investigate the mechanical properties such as tensile strength, compressive strength, impact strength, bending and hardness of the coconut coir fibre based composite materials to be used in the field of automotive. Replacement of fibre reinforced plastics (FRPs) with conventional engineering materials were made inneed to reduce the cost and to raise the quality of parts. Due to the increasing demand of automobile vehicles various modifications are to be incorporated in the conventional FRPs. The current research endeavors an attempts to investigate natural coconut coir fibres based Composites. With the different dimensions of coir fibre length and thickness the specimen was fabricated with coir fibre. Isophthalic resin has been used for advance technology to yield high strength available.Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide (MEKP) acts as a catalyst to reduce the time and fast reaction. Various tests on those fabricated samples were experimentally done to examine the mechanical behavior of composites. From the results, we conclude that the coconut coir fibre powder composites due to its high strength to weight ratio, low specific gravity and low thermal expansionexhibits good compressive, tensile, impact, bending and hardness values and that can be used in field of automotives.
